The Origin Of Birthdays!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Another year around the sun hence “Solar return”.

Gifts, hugs, laughs, but most importantly CAKE! How could we deny the cake is undisputedly the best part of it all, now who called dibs on the biggest piece? Adopted traditions can be seen passed down through the history of man kind, and birthday ceremonies can be seen being celebrated dated back to 3000 B.C.E. as a commerce to the birth of a “god” which this can also be found mentioned in the Bible. 

The crowning of a pharaoh began the transfigurement to “god” status which in succession was deemed even more sacred than ones actual birth to the world.

Pagans such as the romans later adopted the tradition only to shortly after convert the celebration of the birth of a “god” to the birth of all common “man”. Christians considered birthdays to be a pagan ritual with aspirations to honor evil. For hundreds of years birthdays were banned until the 4th century promptly for the birth of Jesus Christ celebration.

Fun fact: Did you know the most common birthday in the United States is October 5th and the least common being May 22? So we most definitely can conclude habitual couples are sharing more than just smooches during fireworks in the course of New Years lol. Cake as sweet as pie wasn’t always an essential module of celebration and in fact at one point in time cake was a bread-like consistency which in time became a largely sweeter version known as “Geburtstagorten” so the light,  fluffy, and saccharine composition we know today, at one point was considered an opulence or luxury due to its scarcity of components. 

Hey so maybe that’s where the saying originated from that goes “ A birthday fit for a king” right? It seems to be a reoccurring theme for current civilization to continuously memorialize the traditions of melanated individuals whom pondered, designed, and constructed a maximum sequence of quotidian. So how is it that those infrequent individuals often become a distant memory of our current consciousness? Being empowered on the day by which you were birth to the world can come to us as a irrefutable understanding but consider the source, possibly a mini fruit salad instead of a side of ice cream or maybe a glass of water instead of that normal “40” after all you might want to be feeling as close to “god” status as much as our ancestors intended it be.
