Women In Power: Hip-Hop’s underground queens!

The faces of hip-hop have been going through numerous changes in the past few years as the world introduced “Mumble rap” & “low fi hip-hop” to become the new norm we also watched The rise of the “femcees” right before our eyes! This became very noticeable in hip hop from what I would like to say 2010 leading up until now, it seems women have been dominating the game! Today at RCOY we would like to shine a little light on a few women that are continuing to mold hip-hop in a way that only themselves can do. So without further a due we’d like to introduce these Queens:

Octavia Mills: Also known as Octavia_thegreat on IG is a songstress/ghost writer for hire native to Virginia. We first  encountered Octavia in New York’s Time square where she spit some bars acapella & instantly we we’re impressed, we have been following her journey ever since. Popular for her tik tok videos Octavia has recently gained a co-sign from XXL freshman CHIKA via Twitter. Check out the visual below for her single “Sunshine” ft. DeShawn Nelson and get familiar with the movement.

Miracle King: is the spitfire artist shaping the path for the youth, hailing out of Las Vegas at 16 years old she’s holding a promising future for herself among the best in the business. Not only is her lyrical ability a force to be reckoned with, she delivers every song & visual with all the extra sauce you can find. You can check out her latest release “In This B***” below!

Nani Layilaa: is a multi-talented indie artist from Long Island New York. It’s not every day that you stumble across someone this talented & business minded, we have been following Nani for a few years now & the journey has been nothing but exciting to watch. Not only does she have an impressive rap sheet of performances & music but she knows how to market herself! In the mix of working on her latest project NRG Nani has managed to put together A mad random review where she interacts with fans and fellow musicians giving live critiques on music that is sent in & shared with the world on her platform connecting herself & others with new ears every week! Below is a VLOG by Nani that we believe perfectly describes her in the most inexplicable way possible.

Nico sweet: the soulful but very versatile & creative emcee coming straight out of High point North Carolina. Whether it’s a heavy bass filled trap beat, live instrumentation, or YouTube type beats Nico will deliver EVERY TIME! Projecting the term making something out of nothing her visuals are always filled with creative aspects of actual reality for a lot of people and we believe that’s where her fan base connects with her content the most. Peep her short-film visual for “Last or Nah” (featuring & shot by Ty Morris) below & make sure to tap In with her on all streaming platforms for a deeper dive into her creative world!

Though we could go deep into detail about how talented these women really are, We have decided to make the write up short & sweet, Allowing their influence to speak for itself and letting them captivate you the same way they have captivated us here at RCOY. Until next time tribe!
