What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “ My shade & texture” ?

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “ My shade & texture” ?

It’s a question one often has to face as they pace back and forth, watching the clock, and trying to decide “Quality or Quantity”. With only a limited amount of products to choose from and a budget pinching itself you might start to fathom “Are there any products for people like me?” Yes! There is and I have proof! My Shade & Texture is a black owned beauty supply store AND MORE!  Located just off the west coast of the sunshine state( just google which state instead of staring at this page silly) owned by Pam Thompson.

Thompson began her “Natural” hair journey in 2000 seeking beauty supply stores as well as products that she sanctioned amongst her crown only to find her voyage short lived as it was met with the lack or diversity as well as a need for change in the “beauty” community. Like any true goddess, Thompson saw this as a window of opportunity for a large conversation and even larger statement. So In 2018 the journey for change began and by 2019 “My Shade & Texture” became the first black owned beauty supply store EVER IN HISTORY PERIOD! (Ok..ok..fr). As soon as you walk in staff members are front and center to greet and treat you! From “coils” to “pins” , light to dark,    long to short, just name it and it’s there.

One of the grand features of the shop is the popular “My shade and texture Beauty/Glow Bar!” This glow bar contains natural and organic oils, fragrances, and mist which you can curate together to create the perfect product for your hair ! See how that works? hair products for ALL hair types designed with YOU in mind. Overall the experience is what keeps the customers wanting more and that’s something that most major companies may or may not be able to relate to. All in all a question still reigns evident, “ Where is the diversity In the beauty community? “ and as Thompson would say “ Obviously, there is more than one type of woman that shop in those stores. So,why should I continue to wait for these stores to realize the need to diversify? “. Make sure to stop by this black owned beauty supply store and remember to tell them Rcoy sent’cha.
